The Mission:

Higher Ground Labs is the startup accelerator and venture fund for progressive political technology. Founded by Betsy Hoover — and backed by investors like Reid Hoffman, Ron Conway, and Chris Sacca — HGL has invested in over 70 companies, many of which have become integral components of the progressive political tech ecosystem. Modernizing campaign tech, impacting elections, and building long-term progressive infrastructure does not happen overnight. Our work centers around the thoughtful deployment of for-profit capital, private-sector business rigor, and user-centric innovation. Our democracy is on the ballot in 2024, and we need your help to ensure that campaigns and organizations fighting to protect our democracy have the tools they need to win!

The Role:

HGL is hiring a Program Manager for the 2024 political cycle. This role will begin ASAP and run through January 31, 2025. This person will develop and support HGL’s presence at the center of the political tech community, including federal, state, and local campaigns, progressive organizations, investors, advisors, portfolio company founders and the broader progressive tech ecosystem. You will help plan events, manage our community engagement, communicate with key political stakeholders, and execute our Convention strategy. This role will work closely with our Founding Partner and VP of Programs, owning some of the most critical aspects of HGL’s success. The role will focus on these key functions:

• Plan and execute our 2024 political strategy and programs: 35%
• Ecosystem community development through communications and programming: 25%
• Event planning and logistics: 20%
• External communications and marketing: 20%

This person should be detail oriented, a strong team player, and a problem solver. If you have a background in politics, that is a plus but certainly not required. The ideal candidate is hungry for growth opportunities and thrives when given responsibility. A good fit would have:

• 3+ years experience in project management
• 2+ years experience working in politics or related field
• Exceptional organizational and written and oral communication skills
• Experience building social media engagement
• Good interpersonal and presentation skills
• Ability to develop creative, engaging and original content
• Attention to detail, critical-thinker and problem-solver
• Good judgment and problem-solving skills
• Confidence communicating with external stakeholders
• Optimism about the role that technology can play in bettering our politics

Details:

Salary: $80,000 salary + benefits

Temporary: This position is temporary. We will start as soon as possible and the position will end on January 31, 2025.
